My Journey

I first learned Tarot from my grandmother when I was young and on the long and winding road, I've returned to it, just like on the hero’s (heroine’s?) journey.

In truth, I never left Tarot – even in the midst of my psychotherapy training or during a creative fug I would pull a card and commune with the imagery. To me, Tarot is a way of accessing a guiding intelligence that is bigger than us, but also resides within us: an intuitive source of change and creativity.

I've spent most of my career as a therapist, integrating traditional and alternative approaches, as you can see in my qualifications below. I spent years working both in private practice and also as a trauma counsellor in the public sector. Although I don't offer therapy anymore, what I do offer with Tarot is imbued with all my years of therapeutic experience.

As a Tarot practitioner you can't escape the issue of fortune-telling. But I have no crystal ball. And I won't ask you to cross my palm with silver (I have a card reader). Jokes aside, I'm not really into the old school approach of predicting the future. For me, Tarot's ancient wisdom can firmly be brought into a modern empowering paradigm, whereby we use the cards to shape our own future, be our own fortune-tellers.

While our fate may exist (or our unconscious patterning, the therapist in me would say) so does our free will. While Tarot can signpost possibilities on the road ahead, it can also show us how to change direction, using all our resources and agency in the here and now.

I'm a writer, and the cards have been an amazing guide and resource for my work. I believe creativity and intuition come from the same place: the realm of the artistic unconscious. This is why I offer Tarot for creativity, too, as a way for others to access this realm and all its riches.
