My Journey
I first learned Tarot from my grandmother when I was a teenager and I still have her old Rider-Waite-Smith deck. I've spent most of my career as a therapist, training in both traditional and alternative approaches to wellbeing - but I always returned to Tarot.
For me the cards are a way of connecting to a guiding intelligence that is bigger than us, but also exists within us in the form of intuition. I see it as an inner power source or compass that we can easily become estranged from by our over-reliance on the rational mind.
I worked for a long time as a psychotherapist so I know a lot about the rational mind! I've always had had a foot in both worlds and I feel this makes me quite grounded and balanced as a Tarot practitioner.
Although I honour the traditional meanings/ interpretations of the card imagery I feel tradition shouldn't act as a constraint. Imagery is powerful and speaks to everyone in a different way. How it speaks to you is the truth, regardless of 'right' interpretations.
This is perhaps the hardest thing though: to trust the wise inner voice of your own intuition - your own guiding compass over anyone else's. My aim as a Tarot practitioner is to empower you on this inner journey.
