Therapeutic Tarot
When you think of Tarot, you may picture a fortune-teller with a crystal ball poised to tell you your destiny. But that's all a bit old paradigm for me - I'm a believer in possibilities over predictions.
As Jung - who was a big fan of Tarot - said, ‘Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will rule your life and you will call it fate.’ I offer the cards as a way of bringing things into awareness, and empowering you in the present to shape your own future.
As a psychotherapist I was taught that healing takes place relationally rather than in isolation. So, as a Tarot practitioner I offer co-creation with the cards rather than a one-sided reading: you, me and the universe working together.
Sessions revolve around a question, theme or issue you wish to explore. If you're not sure what to ask don't worry, the cards always tend to reflect what is going on and why.
The cards can help bring things into awareness. Together we can explore the imagery, make meaningful connections and see what might be being communicated. I can offer the traditional meanings but I’m interested in what you see in the cards too – how the characters and stories, the archetypes and symbolism speak to you personally.
Your intuition is a wise, creative and healing resource - and it's always true. My aim as a Tarot practitioner is to reconnect you with this guidance that already exists inside you.
So what about divination? Well, I believe the cards can signpost things on the road ahead. But they can also show us how to change direction, using all our resources and agency in the here and now. I feel this is an empowering and rewarding way to work with the cards, and one that leads to lasting change.
There are no 'bad' cards - and no 'right' answers. I believe fate is fluid, rather than fixed, just like we are as human beings. Nothing ominous is going to be predicted!
I offer different session lengths as follows:
30 mins at £45
50 mins at £65
We can meet online or in my my consulting room in Brighton.
I work with the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, the Modern Witch deck, and other imagery-based decks.
