The Strength card in tarot was originally known as Fortitude - courage in adversity. This week may call on you to channel your inner lion.

But how much lion - that is the question.

Too much lion can become rage or recklessness. Too little becomes weakness or timidity.

Fortitude is one of three moral virtues in tarot (alongside Temperance and Justice.)

Virtues are the middle ground between extremes. Between lion and lamb you could say.

On this version of the Strength card the woman embodies this virtuous middle ground.

See the infinity tattoo on her arm? This tells us that the mastery of her inner lion is ongoing - an eternal cycle. As is ours.

Here's The Moon card to mark the full moon tonight. Though in this deck (The Wild Unknown Tarot) it's just a wee crescent.

Here, two trees take the place of the image of the dog and wolf in the traditional Waite-Smith version of the card.

What can it all mean??

With intuitive tarot I always say to clients: start with what you see. What in the card are you drawn to? The story unfolds from there.

When I look at this card I see a journey through a midnight forest with only the reflected light of the moon as guide.

(Some say this light symbolises the unconscious.)

It could be scary. It could be beautiful.

The Moon card always reminds us that we create our own journey.

Ooh this is an interesting take on the six of cups.

Traditionally a card of the past, here the roots of the tree take on the symbolism of where we come from - literally, our roots.

The six cups around it form a relational / emotional framework to whatever is unearthed.

This week old 'stuff' may surface - old friends, family, or memories .

Sixes are all about balance. Just like the tree is equally poised between root and branch, we too can aspire to a balance between past and present.

I just spent a soulful weekend with a group of old souls (six of us, in fact) so this card feels very pertinent.

This suggests everything is his for the taking... if only that dastardly second wand behind him wasn't nailed to the wall.

Wands are the suit of ambition, desire, action.

But because this is a two, duality throws a spanner in the works of all that forward momentum wand energy.

This week, there might be a tussle between aspiration and reality. How things actually are versus how you'd like them to be.

A little more forethought is all that's required. A light dusting of the drawing board.

Rethink, revision, realign.

Then all your grand plans can set sail.

The figure on the horse, holding his victory wreath seems happy enough - but a pedestal is a precarious place.

Indeed - the shadow side of the card can often provoke a bit of 'who does he think he is...' (soon enough, in the Seven of Wands, the celebrating crowd have become an envious rabble) but for now he's enjoying himself.

Pulled this card about twenty times lately in various versions which those who use Tarot will know is Something to Pay Attention To.

I'm getting a 'protect your space' vibe from this, first version of the Seven of Wands (Light Seers Tarot).

You can see the woman is inside a kind of globe which the jostling wands below can't disturb. The light from her solar plexus suggests the protective energy is coming through her not from her.

In the second, Rider-Waite-Smith version you can see the figure is more agitated, caught off guard. He's using his own wand - his own energy - to deflect attack. He's fighting to defend his position.

Two cards, the same theme. But two different responses.

Or maybe one response - and one reaction.

Reactions as we know are survival, fight or flight (or freeze or fawn - i'm a freezer). Whichever one you have, it can be depleting. It can burn you out.

The Rider-Waite-Smith Seven of Swords guy is definitely reacting.

She's responding.
