We've all been there - we pull a Tarot card and just want it to tell us what to do.

Should I leave my job?

Will my relationship work?

'Should' and 'will' questions in Tarot are closed questions - as in, they only have a yes or no outcome

Open questions are different. Like:

What is the root of my issue at work?

What is the problem in my relationship and how can i address it?

See how different that feels? Suddenly the possibilities open up... and so do the cards.

That's not to say we're all going to suddenly stop shuffling our decks and asking the universe to give us that definitive answer.... and pulling a second, or third 'clarifier' card when we don't like the one we get 😬

BUT sometimes it's a good to take back a bit of power, exercise a bit of agency. Sometimes it's good to open up the question.

As one of my Tarot teachers once said:

'Why predict the future when you can create it?'

Much like the Hermit is able to climb life's mountain with his inner lantern of wisdom, so too the Owl/Crone soars the dark unknown using the map of intuitive sight.

She teaches us that the way inwards is the way up the mountain. And sometimes the hardest climbs have the greatest view.
